Your household.Your choice.

At CRS, every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion. That's why we use a Client Choice model.

Serving with dignity and respect.

Client Choice lets individuals and families select the foods and household items that best meet their needs, preferences and dietary requirements.

Rather than receiving a pre-packed box, neighbors are welcomed into a shopping-style environment where they make choices for their own households. It transforms food assistance from a transaction into an opportunity for empowerment and connection.

Same food. A very different experience.

A pre-packed box

  • Someone else decides what's inside
  • Items your family can't use often go to waste
  • Little room for allergies, health or cultural needs
  • A quick hand-off, not much conversation

Client Choice at CRS

  • You choose what goes home with you
  • Families take what they'll use, so less waste
  • Space for cultural, medical and dietary needs
  • A welcoming place to connect with neighbors

Why choice matters.

Dignity

Making your own choices preserves self-respect and restores a sense of independence during a difficult time.

Less waste

When families pick what they'll actually eat, resources are used effectively and responsibly.

Healthier selections

Fresh greens and produce, when available, sit right alongside pantry staples.

Every household is different

Choice makes room for cultural traditions, medical needs and dietary requirements.

Connection

Shopping side by side with volunteers turns a pickup into a conversation, and a pantry into a community.

Hope

It's part of building a stronger, healthier and more resilient rural community.

What to expect.

Shelves are stocked with what's come in: pantry staples, household items and fresh food when it's available.

Because supplies come from donations, federal programs and local retailers, the selection changes from week to week. Our team will let you know how things work on the day you visit.

A place wheredignity matters.

More than food. More than a pantry. As CRS grows as a community hub, every neighbor is valued, heard and supported.
